What the SAL??!! Happy New Years!

Oh boy! This is what can happen when under the influence of several pecan pie bars loaded with chocolate! I've joined 3 other SAL's besides the Turtle Trot!

Stitching The Little House Flock

I figured that these cute sheep are small enough for me to stitch and finish. After all, Vonna does ask for just the stitching completed. Finishing the sheep are optional. If you haven't heard of this yet here's the link Little Sheep Virtues. Stitching Bits and Bobs have the pattern and button for sale at their site and may offer both as an auto program. I've already pre-ordered; I now need to order the fabric for these sheep. I'm looking forward to this!

Ornament SAL 2013

Reflections in the Pond is starting an ornament SAL for 2013. You can stitch any kind of ornament be it Halloween, Christmas, Easter, or etcetera etcetera. Here's the link Ornament SAL 2013. Check it out.

TUSAL

I already have the dates up for posting on my sidebar. Just another way to get me to post more often! Here's the link TUSAL.

And of course, the Turtle Trot 2013

I'm supposed to post pictures of my WIPs. There are dates to follow for posting progress and I think it's the 13th of every month, yikes! So here we go

I have not touched this since stitching this little bit almost a year ago!!
My poor, poor neglected Winter at Beacon House. I'll try to stitch this more often and finish it because I have another Praiseworthy Stitches design I want to stitch later on in the year.

This is Christmas Magic from the 2010 ornament magazine from JCS. This is part of the ladies' dress. The designer and the magazine escapes me! I guess I better find the magazine.
Called Klagetoh IV, a Navajo rug. This'll be a perfect Christmas gift for a friend of mine who is Navajo. This is on 14ct Aida. Lots of stitching left!

From an old BH&G Christmas magazine. This is the year of the Mitten!

(Hanging head)

(Can't wait to see what Blogger will do with these two pics!) It's supposed to be a castle.lol.
This one is a contender for early finishing as I just have the flower heads to stitch.

It's pretty overcast today, we may get some rain/snow tonight. I need to stitch this; it's too nice to leave it lying around! So far so good. I'm waiting for Blogger and/or my computer to act up with all these pics I'm putting up!

I must admit that I've been stitching on this for the last 3 days. Filling in that boot is some work! Do you see my mistake here? I'm a center starter and that's what I did. But I must've turned it around and started stitching. I may have just enough fabric for framing! It's supposed to be lengthwise..lol! I took it off the Q-snap and thought-oh crap! But my mistake turned out to be good as I'll have 2 pieces of fabric to use for ornaments for the SAL I mentioned above! I think you may know that La D Da has an ornament of witches feet in one of the JCS Halloween magazines. Not bad huh!

So I tried to load another picture and no go so I'll post the last 3 WIPs tomorrow. I have leftover Christmas ornaments kitted up, a few Halloween and I'm looking through all my charts and freebie charts to get ready for the Ornament SAL. I'm looking forward to all the stitching I'll be doing in 2013! I'm certifiably committed!

I need to put an ALL POINTS BULLETIN out for the MIA Deb from Threadgatherers! Where are you Deb? If you see this, you won the big prize! Send me an email azcampis@yahoo.com to let me know your address.

I'm going to get back to stitching cheating on Something Wicked. It's back to work tomorrow, then off for the 1st. I'm still in Christmas mode because I feel like it just snuck up on me. We had a great time eating too much and opening gifts. Hope you all did too! Thanks everyone; I appreciate your comments and even those who lurk, coming from a former lurker!

And the winners are.......

 DEB!!!
Deb is the winner of the Grand Prize!

Isn't that shooting unbelieveable? My heart aches for all the people involved. So senseless. My daughter just had a lockdow at her school yesterday for suspected weapons. It gets so that you don't want to let your children out of your sight.

Your giveaway is great and I'd love to be entered. It's really hard picking out my favorite chocolate/candy though. Maybe Heath Bars would be my favorite - I love toffee and chocolate.

Congratulations on your second Blogoversary!!!!

And the winner of the Consolation prize is:

PJ!!!

We could use a bit of cheerfulness this day. What a generous give-away. Happy anniversary and wish you and your family a joyful holiday.

Keep on stitching.

So ladies, email me campbo41@q.com with your snail mail addresses and I'll get these out to you right away. PJ, I see you didn't choose a candy/chocolate. Let me know what you like when you email me with your mailing address!

Thanks everyone for leaving a comment and playing along! Here's wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!!

Playing Santa-HoHoHo!

So now I've received everything I was waiting for from USPS for this giveaway and here it is, divvied up! This is the Grand Prize with the LHN Holiday House with fabric for it.
And here's the Consolation prize with Pineberry Lane's Bringing Home the Tree with fabric.
Can't wait! I've had fun gathering this all together and wish I could give something to all of you. Thanks for your participation and your comments! BTW, here's the link to post a comment for entry into this Giveaway!

Books, books, books! I can't live without 'em!
My new reading for 2013. Just ignore that mini bottle of whiskey there at the right! It's a '65 bottle of Early Times that I was selling on eBay along with other mini bottles of liquor. I imagine drinking a bottle of 47 year old whiskey would pickle the liver and more--eww, yuck! Even drinking new stuff would make me say the same thing!

I haven't taken pictures of my WIPs yet but I have lined up new starts for 2013! I'm going bonkers big in 2013!

 School Days
La D Da
JCS Oct. '03

I'm sooo glad I bought this camera. These pictures are coming out so good!

I'm seeing the Crazy January Challenge ladies are gearing up again for 2013 with 3 different challenges, including one for WIPs. It's tempting to join again but I need to work on my WIP pile!

I'll be back later if the world still exists! with the winners names. Thanks everyone!

Finished Christmas ornaments

Just two of them but I love how they turned out! I'm about finished with Ho Ho Ho by Val's Stuff. After I post here, I'll get on with it. Yes, just 3 ornaments for the year but I finished a few earlier in the year. I'm itching to start something big. Here's my ornies
Bringing Home the Tree by LHN. Cute huh?! The backing fabric is a red and white striped fabric. I cut out a small square of batting to put under the design to give it some softness. Here's the next one

Oh, surprise!, another LHN design. Called Blue House in Winter, from the newest JCS ornament mag. I thought this was a Blackbird Designs design! I made this to look almost like the model in the magazine. I have the blue felt on hand, the ric-rac is a different color and I used buttons that match the chimney and the holly berries? at the corners. I may glue something on the wool side though. It's looking kind of blank. Here they are together..

Took me about 25 minutes to put these together.

We got our first snowfall of the season. Glad it did it during the weekend though. Didn't stop us from Christmas shopping on Saturday, hehe.
December 21st is closing in on us...did you comment on the last post to enter the Giveaway? Click here-  Giveaway to leave a comment and your choice of candy/chocolate. Anyone and everyone are welcome!

I'll be back before the end of this year with a picture of Ho Ho Ho. I'm also lining up all my Turtle Trot WIPs for their picture day. I'll have all 13 of them posted here, depending on Blogger of course! BTW, did I mention I'm using a new camera? It's a GE and it's very nice. Pictures come out really nice and pictures are loaded onto my computer really fast. I bought it right after Black Friday.

Thanks for stopping in and visiting! Appreciate all the comments coming in on the Giveaway post. Don't forget to let me know what kind of candy/chocolate you like! Take Care!

2nd Blogaversary coming up!

Helloooooo!

I wanted to get on here and announce my 2nd Blogaversary coming up on the 21st I believe. I did this last year too, not exactly sure when I first started this blog. But it's been fun and I've enjoyed reading all your comments and checking out your blogs!

So I'm having a Giveaway! Yay! A Grand Prize and a Sorry-You-Didn't-Win-The-Grand-Prize! prize! Just leave a comment here on this post and let me know what kind of candy/chocolate you like. I will ship the prizes to wherever you're at! Be a follower or not. The followers I have now who comment, as of this post. will be given an additional chance to win (gotta take care of the followers we already have, right?!)  Be sure to leave your comment between now and 6:59 p.m. Arizona time December 21st. At 7 p.m. I'll draw names for the Grand Prize who'll also receive this one remaining jar of Prickly Pear Jelly. The winners' name of the Grand Prize will be removed from the drawing for the Consolation prize. In other words, no one can win both prizes!

This ought to be fun! So far, here's what I have for both prizes. It's not all here as I'm awaiting delivery of more stuff and if you've ordered anything lately, you'll know it's taking forever! I haven't decided what will go with what. So far I know the Santa sniff tissues will go into each prize and one pattern/fabric per prize. The patterns are: Bringing Home the Tree by Pineberry Lane (love them, getting fabric for it) and Holiday House by LHN w/fabric. Also trims, note cards from Homespun Elegance, Stitch Happy travel cup, the needle minder, Bohin needles, and some surprises too! Check it out....

Let the comments begin!

As far as stitching...What stitching?!! I've worked on the Val's Stuff Santa a little. My car broke down for a week, the starter went out. My daughter and I had to scramble for transportation to school and work. Thank God for friends though. My daughter was able to borrow a car from a friend, and some mornings I rode in with a co-worker. So this latest Crisis had me a little blue and no stitching. Said car is now fixed and things are smoothing out.

I'm just now hearing of the Connecticut elementary school shooting and I'm just broken-hearted about it. 18 to 20 kids possibly dead. I feel like just crying right now. There are no words....Whatever problems I may have pale in comparison to what families and friends of the victims are going through over there. Prayers and thoughts are winging their way to Connecticut right now. And during the Christmas season too... :..(

Take care, hug your loved ones a little tighter!

Keeping up with the Joneses

Ahh, Monday. I had 2 days off for Thanksgiving, Thursday and Friday. Today is my regular day off and tomorrow I asked off. So I'm away from work for 6 days and enjoying it! Usually I get bored by the 4th day but not this time! I've been stitching, eating, shopping, eating, etc. Today is the first day I'm not gassed bloated up lol! I'm making an effort to not eat Thanksgiving leftovers.

I want to talk about Black Friday. Thanksgiving day after our meal was eaten and the kitchen somewhat cleaned up, my daughter and I decided to hit Target for their 9 p.m. opening. Our local newspaper was about 2 inches thick from just the sale inserts themselves! This is one of my favorite things about this season, the sale papers. Target had some things I wanted like an xBox game for my daughter, the newest Sherlock Holmes movie with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. Now I'm an amateur at this Black Friday thing. So we get to Target about 8 p.m. and there's already a line! A. Long. Line! But we're up for this. Eventually we get in to have people running past us to get what they wanted before it ran out. We stood in line 1 hour only to shop for 10 minutes. We were out before everyone got in line at the cashiers. Then off to Kohl's for their midnight opening, two hours early! At first we sat in the car. Then people started coming up so we got out and got in line. The closer to midnight the more people came up and stood by the door while the rest of us were in this long line going the other way! Yeah, there were some unhappy people but the Kohls people made a line and let all of us in line go in first! We then stood in line after grabbing and running and playing bumper carts with everyone else for another hour! We finally got home at 2 a.m. Folks, that was my first and only time I will do Black Friday! lol! But I got some good deals and I can now say I did Black Friday!

I stashed recently and all my purchases are from seeing these designs except for the Val's Stuff designs, on everyone else's blogs! So a big THUMBS UP for co-dependency! Well, this kind anyway
Baby, it's cold outside and No Quitter. I don't have the fabric called for so I'll be pulling fabric from my stash for them. I also bought two small pieces of linen for ornaments and some GAST for Baby, it's cold outside.
And I couldn't resist some more Halloween designs! Trick or Treat by Widgets & Wool Primitives and Pumpkin with Cornstalk by Handblessings

And my very first HAED design! A perfectly spooky one, of course! After printing this out, I wondered what I was thinking. It takes at least 17 skeins of black DMC! Might as well go shopping again and buy black a little at a time! But in my defense, HAED was having a sale haha. I don't know if it's still on though.

And, here's Val's Stuff designs, with the buttons and WDW that it needed-Envy and Confetti. Can't wait to stitch with the Confetti! I was lookin' through my stash and thought that I didn't have much Christmas-y designs so here you go! Aren't they both cute?
In between all the shopping and eating, I managed to finish 2 projects
Bringing Home the Tree by LHN and the BBD design in the newest JCS ornie mag, the name escapes me.
And my stitching up to date of the Winter House Sampler by Homespun Elegance

I have since finished the lt green tree and am now stitching the other lt green tree and snowman on the left side of the house. See the gap in the roof? For some reason it was left blank but I'm going to fill that in with an over-dyed white for snow. The UFO next to the moon? That is Santa's sleigh. I just have to have stitch the reindeer and the lines. This one may end up on the pile of Turtle Trot WIP's!

Speaking of Turtle Trot, I have my WIP's lined up on my sidebar if you want to see what I'll be working on. The last 9 are all Crazy January Challenge '12 stuff and the next 3 are mostly Halloween, and the Thee I Love is from an old JCS magazine that I started 2 years ago. Have you all seen all the Challenges and SAL's popping up lately? I'm intrigued with the Scarlet Letter Challenge because one blogger I was reading recently finished up a smallish sampler from SL that didn't look intimidating. The Turtle Trot SAL is the only SAL that I'll be doing in 2013 and maybe a couple of Stitching with Love exchanges. I can see myself loading up on all these SAL's and feeling rushed and I hate rushing!

We're headed to Phoenix in a couple weeks, my daughter and I. Get out of Dodge and visit the big city. I'm looking for a computer tower and my brother tells me I might be able to find a good-priced one in Phoenix. We have a Best Buy here and I found two that are on sale but he thinks I can find one cheaper in Phoenix. And I'll be headed to the Attic ( Attic Needleworks), much to the dismay of my daughter who just hates needlework shops and, I'm sure, will sit in the car to wait for me!). I tried to get her stitching some years back, but she's just not interested. Maybe when she gets older she'll become interested. It's amazing that my grandmother on my dad's side and I was and is the only 'crafty' persons in my entire extended family. I have 2 of her quilts, both over 60 years old, all sewed by hand! I just love them. Back to the Attic! You all may know of my 2nd Blogaversary coming up. Well, I'm going to pick up some stitchy things there for the Giveaway! So heads up! I'm receiving a Christmas Bonus on my paycheck in two weeks, so I'm going armed and ready lol.

I'm sure I had more things to write about but for the moment, I can't remember if I did! I'm getting back to stitching Winter House and watching Anthony Bourdain on Netflix, two of my favorites. Take Care y'all and Thanks for your comments the last post. I'm not sure if you know but I do respond to your comments right below them. Would someone tell me if you get a notification when I do reply? Thanks!

Back on Earth

I've now returned to Earth after the euphoria of my exchange goodies. Whew! Turns out I wasn't supposed to put pictures of them here until after Elaine received all the pictures and sent out emails to the partners. My bad! So if you would all just act like you never seen the exchange pictures on my last post-I'd appreciate it! Elaine emailed and we chalked it up to me being new at this and excitable! But really, I heard from my recipient and she likes what I made and sent. Second Whew! It was fun and I'd do another exchange again but just not right now.

Can I post just one more picture of a Halloween finish?! Thanks!
This is All Hallows Eve by Waxing Moon Designs on Gold linen from R&R. I abandoned the stitching with the skeleton and have moved onto Christmas. Below is my daytime stitching because it's on 35 or 36ct linen from Lakeside and I can't see very well when the sun goes down! Obviously, I can't take a picture to save my life but here goes

Bringing Home the Tree. It's turning out small and I'll make this into a flat ornament. Next up is my nighttime stitching! This is the Winter Sampler by Homespun Elegance and as you can see, I made a copy of it and lost the pattern! I have had this pattern for years and am just finally stitching it

It's stitched on 28ct Sandstone linen and you know what?, it's stiff as all get out. I've soaked it and washed it, then ironed it and it's still stiff! I'm stitching this in hand like the LHN above because my two Q-snaps are occupied right now so I guess it's a good thing it's stiff. But, I can see this at night with my reading glasses and stitching light on.

Alright ladies, any of you have WIP's and UFO's coming out of the woodwork? Well, BAP Atttack is having a Turtle Trot (cute name huh?) WIP finishing for 2013. Go check it out at the link above. I have 13+ WIPs, stitch like a Turtle, so I joined up. It'll be fun and she'll have a drawing for a prize after it's all said and done. Sounds like fun! Also, because I have to show my progress by the 13th of every month, you'll see me more often than the measly 2 posts I do in a month!

Thanksgiving is upon us. Any of you ready to cook? I always cook a large turkey breast for the three of us so we can have turkey leftovers afterwards. Along with all the fixin's, of course! Then we head on over to a cousins house where besides the usual foods, they have Posole (a Mexican soup). Delicious!

We're closing in on December and my upcoming 2nd Blogaversary on the 20th I believe. Last year, I wanted to hold the Giveaway in January just because I figured people would be too busy and the postal service going nuts. But lo and behold, my gallbladder decided it wasn't having any of it so no Giveaway. This year everythings a go and I'll go right ahead and have the Giveaway on the 20th of December. I still have one jar of Prickly Pear jelly and that'll go in with the prizes. So be sure to check-in in December to find out the details of this Giveaway.

I recently Stashed but I didn't take pictures. I"ll do that on my next post.

Here's wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving! We have so much to be thankful for don't we?!

Royal Mail-OMG!

Did you feel some tremors today? That was me, jumping up and down! Today, I received my Fall into Halloween exchange package which is why I'm so excited! First I took a pic of the package itself! See that stamp at upper right? It says Royal Mail! I know--calm down.
One of the Psycho sisters had to get into the act and sniff it out. You can see her fur at the left. I love things British! I would love to visit there one of these eons. Maybe in my second life!

Here's the packages in their Halloween tissue

And a card....

And Voila! the treats

See the cute kitty card! There's the Halloween cookie cutter set, Scooby-Doo balloons (my favorite cartoon is Scooby-Doo!), the Lizzie Kate Snippet Gather a Harvest, a pumpkin pin, the Opalescent Lugana fabric, Halloween fab, a JABC froggy threader, 3 dmc threads-oranges and black, the chocolate from Cadbury which she said is made nearby-so cool, and last but not least-the pillow from an IStitch design. The chocolate was gone within 5 minutes of opening the package and scrumptious. I want to stitch the LK design like, right now! This is so much fun.

Here's the pillow on it's own. So cute, the backing fabric is an orange fabric with haunted houses. Super stitcher I might add is T. I don't know her full name and the card is signed T! The Mysterious T!
Thank You T! I love it all!

November already, huh?! Hope no tricks but treats were bestowed upon you on Halloween night. Myself, I tried to catch every scary show on t.v. My daughter and her pal went to a hockey game dressed up with half of their face a skull as a mirror image. It looked pretty cool.

Well, have you all started your Christmas shopping yet?! I know..I know...how dare I ask. I'm getting that niggling feeling that I get about this time of year...panic! Thanksgiving will be here before you know it!

I have not picked up a needle in 4 or 5 days. I've just lost my mojo. Here's what I stitched on last week though before mojo took off
Dead of the Night on 32ct black linen with DMC. That witch and moon took some time to stitch. I feel like I need to finish this before I start anything else.

I've been looking through my stash for Christmas things to stitch and I don't have much. So I put in an order at 123 Stitch for a couple small stitchings that were on sale. I love that place!

I hit a couple after-Halloween sales and here's what I scored
The pumpkin skull was $4.00 with an orange light-bulb inside and I found these decorations for cheap also

That's it for my after-Halloween sales buying!

Well I'm going to look at my exchange goodies and wash dishes! It's a nice warm day here for November and the door is wide open-enjoying it because next week I'm hearing the highs will be in the low 60's.

Take care y'all! Hope everyone affected by Superstorm Sandy are doing alright!

Frog is a Wicked frog!

Yes he is. As I was stitching on Something Wicked
and moving on to another letter, I noticed my counting was off somewhere. So I count and guess where it's at? At 'way -'. And since 'mething' ('so' is not stitched yet) was started counting off from the 'w' on 'way', I had to pull the silk threads I might add, from 'way -' and 'mething' and stitch it all over again! Aaarrggh! I know it's not real major but I didn't want to ruin the silks. I managed to de-stitch and use them over. Even if it takes me to December, I will finish this one!

I had a nice surprise waiting for me at the Post Office the other day!
This was all from Ranae at Stitch by Stitch . She had a naming contest for two of her starts and I guessed correctly on one. There are lots of firsts here! My first scissors fob, my first flat-fold and a cute one at that, and my first win at a giveaway of some sort. So exciting for me.

And the fob and the thread

Love the color of the thread and that fob is so very cute and the Halloween ribbon too! Thanks Ranae!

This post could have been titled 'Adventures in Exchange stitching and Post Office business! Yesterday I finally finished sewing up the stitched item for the exchange after having to totally change my idea for it. My first plan didn't take as my sewing machine stitches were too close to the edge, ending with gaps in the stitches and the fabric of the design unraveling. And this was after sewing the whole thing together! I wish I could tell you what it is but my partner might read this. So I grab my seam ripper and take the whole thing apart. Go back to my bedroomslashcraft room, and look at what other fabrics I have and what other kind of 'thing' I can make this. So back to the drawing room! I chose black woolfelt and sewed it onto the stitched piece along with one of the original Halloween fabrics I started out with originally. So it is the original 'thing' but in a different way! And it looks nice too. Ok, fast forward to this morning. After my shower, I begin wrapping all the items for this exchange. Everything looks nice. fits great in the box. I tape it up and haul it to post office. Off it goes. My mission complete and with a sigh of relief. I sit down at the computer and to my HORROR sits one of the exchange extras before me! I grab a padded mailer, shove it in with a note to said partner hoping that this little package will reach her either the same time as the larger box or maybe earlier. I have 45 minutes left before post office closes, thankfully post office is about half a mile from me. I run in and begin filling out another Customs form (yuck!) and get to the counter. The clerk is thankfully the same guy who helped me before. He says well I don't think we've sent the other package off yet, so let's see what we can do. He finds the box and cuts it open and hooray, there's room at the top to add this other package. I didn't have to fill out another Customs form and it didn't change the postage cost at all! So now it's off to Phoenix and afterwards onto my exchange recipient. Sheesh! What a couple of days that was. Once she receives her package(s)!, I will put up pictures of what I sent. I just hope she receives it all before Halloween so she has time to display it all. I hope she likes what I made and sent.

So I've learned a few things about taking part in an exchange: Buy everything needed earlier, finish items earlier as I stayed up to 11 p.m. Thursday sewing the bigger item, plan how to package this EARLIER!, ship EARLIER so I'm not rushing around!, and do my homework on types of boxes, types of shipping options and costs as they are just as bad as trying to pick out the right feminine pads. Not for me but my daughter, hehehe! I received an email from Elaine as did others about joining up for the Christmas Exchange but I jumped ship! I will probably do some of her other exchanges next year as I enjoyed myself and loved the excuse of shopping for my partner. After this fiasco, it'll go easier next time!

I follow a few Primitive arts and crafts blogs and recently purchased this very nice luminaria
from the Etsy store of Harvest Moon Primitive . Marilyn included a flicker battery-operated candle with it and it's so neat when the lights are off. Today we hit the Spirit store looking for Halloween stuff and I found a lighted skull that changes colors and I've sat it next to my luminaria. I've tried taking pics of the two but they're just not coming out good; more camera drama! We're setting the scene and watching Sleepy Hollow with Johnny Depp and co. tonite!

I managed to finish two of the little patterns that came with the LK Mystery Sampler (see my grinning skull?!)
and here's another pic of them

next to the hard-working sewing machine. The fabric Haunted is on is the correct color as opposed to the pic above. With Spooky, I added that little gold metallic bow at the top left corner and a shimmery velvet-like ribbon in the middle which you can see a couple sparkles on it. Haunted has the black trim around the middle. I have three other Halloween smalls to finish stitching or to finish and I hope to have those done before Halloween comes along so I can display all of them together. Of course I still have LK's Mystery Sampler to finish in addition to Something Wicked. Those I will finish before the end of November or the year, whichever comes first : p! That'll probably do it for my Halloween stitching for this year. Although Halloween is my most-est favorite Holiday, I'm getting a hankering to start stitching Christmas! Bring it On!

That'll do it folks! I've just finished stuffing my face with pizza and I'm getting lethargic! Thank You for checking in and leaving comments, the best part of blogging. Take Care! I'll leave you with a pic of one our cats-Bubba! Oh the life of a well-loved kitty!
