Some finishes and finds

Good Afternoon or evening, wherever you may be! Sitting here listening to the cicadas or locusts as I call them, making a racket in the 30 year old Chinese Elm at the corner of my home as I watch the thunderboomers go AROUND us! Ugh!

Thought I would show you a couple of finishes that I did last week instead of creating a ginormous post on Sept. 15. This is the Black-Hearted Queen by sub rosa..
I've had this printed fabric in my stash for some time, so I started the Queen with this fabric in mind. The back is the same fabric and I glued the trim to the front and the fancy braided trim to the sides. After all, this is the Queen! I love glue!

The second finish is Holiday Samplings I or II, ha, can't remember! Designed by Homespun Elegance..
The light green cord seems to match the green in the design. Once again, I glued! I finished it off with the homespun check fabric and the rusty safety pin with the tinkly bells. They sound so nice!

That light green cord I found with all of these...
Yesterday found me at a secondhand store looking for work tee shirts. Didn't find any but look what I found! That Fanci That chart is like brand new and is perfect for the Americana SAL that I'm doing. The box with home Sweet home is a punch needle kit. It has been halfway done but it has the punchneedle and all the floss. I've been wanting to try punchneedle so I have no excuse! Below it are the cords I found. I've used the green one above and still have the pretty ivory one to use yet. And, ta da, the Belle Soie silks that were in a ziploc bag for $1.00!!! The colors are Carrot Cake and Lasagne, two skeins each. All of this came to $4.00, woohoo. The chart was $1.00 and the silks $1.00 and they will go against SFS. Great finds for me.

So I've been dabbling in woolfelt like I do every now and then. So far I've felted my wool, cut out the apples and satin stitched the seeds..
I have the green and red backgrounds to felt and cut and then to attach it all to the big round piece. I don't know if the designer sprayed hers with a coffee solution or it's just a photo thing but I may keep it this whitish color. The coming Fall always makes me want to work with wool. Like cross stitch, I also have a stash of wool and patterns but not as huge as xs!

I wish there were 28 hours in the day to do all that I want to!

Thanks for stopping by! Wishing you all a great week!

Stitch from Stash August

Hi all! Hope your weather has been wonderful!

Time for STS August:

Month: August

Spent: $9.99

Earned: $18.00 (woohoo!) Black Hearted Queen 68w x 54h for $6.00 and Tombstone Angel 161w x
       51 for 12.00.

Beginning bal: $32.50
August add:      25.00
                       =57.50

I bought the JCS Halloween ornament issue which cost the $9.99, earned $18.00 for two finishes which all leaves me with $65.51 for August. Hope this makes sense.

Now on to my Tombstone Angel Pin Drum finish, yay! I finished this yesterday in the evening. Once again I forgot about the FNSI but I stitched with them in spirit!
Isn't it great? Designed by Stacy Nash Primitives, on 35ct linen and stitched with GAST Blackboard thread, one strand. So I have been checking out tutorials for making a drum and decided to use the directions included with the chartpack. Since I'm a visual learner, I will also follow a tutorial that the Scattered Seed Sampler designer put on her blog for her drums. I'm stuffing it with organic sawdust. It seems to look nice, nicer than the bumpy look with polyfil. As for the black velvet strawberry at the top,
I'll have to hunt down some velvet for it. Crossing my fingers for a finish next month!

A short and sweet post! I had to do the word verification thingee because I had been getting comments offering loans on the last four or five posts! I had to go through them and delete his comments, ugh. So if would please let me know that it's up and working, I'd appreciate it:)

Thanks for stopping by! Hope your weekend has been a good one!

Gifted Gorgeousness August

Whoo's There by Prairie Schooler. I'm going to use this for my Prairie Schooler SAL hosted by Kitten Stitching. I know, cheating a little! What have I done to Whoo since last month? I've added the owl and accompanying branches and leaves, and the start of the house in the middle.

I've received my exchange partners info from Terri, so I'm looking at some time spent going through all of my stash for any Fall-ish designs to stitch for this gal. I have to the 24th of September to stitch and finish something!

Thanks for coming by! Have a great stitchy weekend!

My Americana SAL start

I didn't realize that I couldn't post pictures over at the SAL because of my iPad so this is what I'm having to do-for now. I'll figure something out.

BTW, this is Sweet Liberty by Samplers & Santas, picture is from the blog. Marly has a lot of free designs on her blog which is where I got this design. I also saw a patriotic pear which I also printed out. So I'm set for a couple of months.

Gone around the bend, a detour

Hi all!

Yup, I've gone around the bend. In the last week, I've signed up for a Fall/Halloween exchange and two, yes 2, SALs! The exchange hosted by Terri from Dixiesamplar, and the SALs are the Prairie Schooler and the Americana hosted by Kaye of Kitten Stitching. I would put up links but they don't work so well on this app on my iPad. Now, I haven't stitched up a whole lot of PS but since hearing they are retiring, I had to join in on the fun. As soon as I can, I'll add to my stash some PS.

I took a detour recently. Here she is..
The Black-Hearted Queen by sub-rosa. Here's a better picture of the color of the fabric I used..
Here's a commercial for DixieSamplar fabrics, unpaid of course! But because I love her fabrics! This is 28ct Vintage River Rocks. I also made some changes to the pattern: red lips, a different neckline. I knocked this out in a weekend.

So, I've been tackling some long time WIPs and put in a few more stitches on this one..
This is Pumpkins & Sunflowers from a Cross Stitch & Needlework magazine. It's taking on a life since the last time I stitched on it..
October 11th of last year is the last time I stitched on it. To the left of the sunflower is a ginormous pumpkin taking shape. You can see a leaf above it and the stalk. I'm looking forward to it because it's one color of orange!

I haven't stitched a whole bunch in the last week. It's been pretty warm here and it just sucks the life outta you!

I'm off. Just finished watching the Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremonies on TV. It always ushers in football season and the start of cooler weather around here. I am so ready for Fall!

Thanks for stopping by! See you around the 15th!
