Updates, etc.

I'm a little scatterbrained this morning and thought I'd start this post with a chuckle šŸ˜‚ however my drug of choice is Diet Pepsi or Coke Zero. Well, after my cereal I'll drink the soda. Bad habits!

How are you all doing? I went past my last post by 3 weeks instead of the usual 2 because last weekend I didn't really have anything to show. This time I finished one of my 61 new starts so let's take a look...

Week 6 found me starting this bookmark...

Yes, there's a skull and a spider, and levitating books in the cage! You know me😁The Bookcage Bookmark by Lola Crow. Ever since taking part in the Tiny Modernist's Jingle Ball bookmark class (which I still have to FFO), I've had a thing for bookmarks! This took 3 days of stitching, with all the called for flosses and a 32ct Vintage Light Examplar by Lakeside that I snatched up in a destash group. 'Cause that's what you do when you come across a Lakeside Linens linen! There are no instructions on how to put this together so I might use Tiny Modernist's directions for her bookmark. I stitched this in the center so I might have enough fabric on the left to use for the backing. We shall see.

Week 7, just this last Wednesday, I just barely started yesterday (work is leaving me exhausted so I haven't stitched since last Monday) and will stitch on it for the next few days...

Halloween Night Fever, a freebie. My first thought was to stitch their heads in orange and their clothes in colors from the 70s! The man's suit was to be a beige color with his lapels white, and her outfit a lilac color. If you watched Soul Train or American Bandstand, you'll know what I mean! Ha! But I chose GAST Onyx. FYI: Hollis Hands Create on Etsy sells some GASTs in 10 yard skeins, mostly what you'd call back ground colors - blacks, browns, greens. She ships fast too. I'm using a dk gray splattered evenweave of unknown count. I'm liking how it's looking. I'll keep stitching on these two.

Edited to add that I feel like I'm missing a start somewhere🤣blaming it on brain fog!

In between those 2 starts, I managed to pick up a couple of WIPs...

First up is the Grace Bridges Sampler by Stacy Nash...

I just measured that top stitching and it's 15" across; she'll be big! That's the top complete. Something that bothers me though is that when I unfolded her, I've started on the shorter side of this gigantic piece of Parchment. Looking at the model, there are still a lot of stitching below the red peacock which I nearly have done. I also stitched the rest of the top border without flower buds. I'll just keep at her and hope I've measured right.

My next WIP is

By Summer House Stitche Workes on 36ct Atomic Ranch linen. I stitched on that middle vine and put more wording in. It's not a big piece but there's a lot of snowflakes, green trees with white for snowflakes, and a good sized house on the right. The word 'came' is at the halfway point.

Well, that's it. The weather here is balmy with temps going to the 70s by Monday. Look at how things looked around here 6 years ago...

Two and a half feet of snow, no work for 3 days. I had to hire a guy to come break up the berm that snow plowing created behind my car in the driveway. Not far from me we had a wildfire that burnt up almost 400 acres about 2 weeks ago. There are 2 ways of looking at this though and that's no precipitation means no overgrowth of weeds that dry out by June to create a fire hazard but our lakes are going down and a friend who has a well has had to buy water and have it delivered. Hopefully we get something before winter is over.

And on that note, I'm all out of news! I'm feeling particularly old as my daughter turned 30 years old a couple days ago! I just can't! Time really does go by.

Thanks for the comments as always☺️

We'll see you soon!
