The 2nd go-round

Evening all! I just came back from my first class of the spring semester...algebra (yuck). I had to take this subject over again because I didn't keep up with it last semester and I was approaching a big fat 'F', so I withdrew. It's the 2nd go-round.

All it needs is black beads for his eyes and and the mouse's eyes. There were lots of 1/4 stitches in Moose, and some backstitching, but not a lot.

I'm not sure how I'm going to finish this one or Moose, for that matter. Moose will fit in a 8"x10" frame...easy to find. I've framed my own stuff before, so it shouldn't be too difficult. As for All Hallow's Eve...I'm thinkin' pillow. There are two other finishes I mentioned further down in my posts that need to be turned into a pillow and a pincushion. If I could get my hands on crushed walnut, I can complete the pincushion. But where, o where can I find some? Michael's, Joanne's and Hobby Lobby...here I come! And I come armed with a long-awaited paycheck!!

As much fun as I'm having conquering my WIP's, I'm afraid it all has to take a back seat to my studies. I have 3 other classes besides Algebra, and I'll have papers to write for at least 2. I will FIND time to get some stitches in though, that much I know!

A Lazy Day!!

Happy Sunday everyone! I have been here at this computer for 3 hours now checking out everyone's blogs and what projects they've got going. Wow! It would've been cool to start the Crazy January Challenge where for each of 15 days you start a new stitching project. I definitely have 15 projects that could be started. But that would've been pure insanity for me the join that one, what with all the WIP's I have now. Repeat with me "INSANITY"! So a year from now instead of a few WIP's I'd have close to 30! I say 30 because there are some big projects I'd like to start and those will take some time, time I don't have. I made it past my first week of work but of course, I won't be seeing a paycheck until 2 weeks from now! AARRGGHH! My job will cut into my stitching time. At least I'm working!

I recently finished my first WIP by Mary Engelbreit, and went on to the next but found I'm out of a floss I need and am too lazy to run to Hobby Lobby! So here is what I started on yesterday:

Lo and behold, I am out of a certain color of floss too! So I'm working on areas that use floss that I have! I wanted to show off a little quilting/woolfelt project that I threw together before Christmas. First time I've ever done corners and they turned out great!:

Back to school and a new job, finally!

My daughter returned to school on Monday, and today Tuesday, I started my new job! It's a relief to finally have a job. It's part time, and college for me starts in two weeks, so there goes any kind of time I have to tackle my WIP'S and UFO'S. I will try to sneak in some time to stitch a little. My first WIP is going nicely and I have a little backstitching left. I will post pic's of that and my next project later.

Happy New Year!

Hope 2011 is starting out great for you! I'm starting my first WIP for 'Up for a Challenge'. First I wanted to post a few more pictures of my creations. I haven't figured out how to put pictures on the side of my blog, so this will have to suffice. I might mention that I like primitive arts & crafts also, so I try to make a few items along the way.

Here's a snowman mug rug on wool with applique and blanket stitching. Below are more pic's of pieces that I've stitched:

A Joshua 24:15 sampler from an old JCS issue. This project was a UFO for about 8 years, the longest I've ever let things go. I finished it about a year ago. There's more:

One of the adorable trees from PSchooler's oop Christmas Trees. Last time I saw this booklet on eBay, it was going for $35.00! Unfortunately, I sold mine many years back and made copies. However, I didn't copy most of the thread & symbols chart. : ( . Look at the bright side..I can make several of these in this pattern! Anyway, I stitched this on Olive aida (hard to find anymore), a Mill Hill glass treasure star at the top and green plaid homespun fabric for the back. It's cute!

I finished this a couple days ago. It's Joy by Midsummer Night Designs found in JCS Ornament issue '09. The fabric will be the backing. I just felt a foresty-looking fabric would look nice with the trees.

Also finished is the Rose Garden by BBD, part of the Reward of Merit Pincushions. On 32ct Antique Ivory linen. I used the threads called for it, Jakey Brown by CC. It was fun and quick!

There you have it! I am now going to tackle my WIP for the challenge.
